1 Corinthians 16:13-15 Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong. Let all your things be done with charity. I beseech you, brethren, (ye know the house of Stephanas, that it is the firstfruits of Achaia, and that they have addicted themselves to the ministry of the saints,)

We arrived in Ukraine on June 20th after a long journey from Romania by bus. We were able to rent a hotel room over the bus stop for the next 3 days to rest. On that Sunday we ventured into Kyiv to look for a church to attend. Unfortunately the church that we googled was no longer in existence, so we walked around the area to see what was there. We found a historical, beautiful city, filled with wonderful buildings and shops. The area was the oldest part of Kyiv and we felt that the Lord had directed us to come to a flat or apartment in this part of town. As a huge city, the skyscrapers are evident for miles around us. Where do we begin to meet people? We moved our suitcases to our temporary furnished flat and began to go out into the streets with our Jesus Saves sign to encounter the thousands of people that walk the sidewalks. We were surprised to see that life as usual has continued here in this part of Kyiv, and we didn’t see signs of the war, in this peaceful area of Ukraine. People were out enjoying the warm summer weather, sitting in the outdoor coffee shops, and outdoor restaurants. For about 2 weeks we did evangelism, meeting street kids dressed in Gothic outfits, feeding hungry elderly people who were eating out of the trash, talking to fellow Christians who saw our sign, and going to churches as we were invited. The sense of security and safety was to be interrupted on the morning of July 8.
MISSILES BOMB KYIV AND OTHER AREAS OF UKRAINE
A barrage of missiles hit different locations of Ukraine and shattered the peaceful summer in Kyiv. We were in our apartment preparing for our meeting with Pastor Igor from a local Baptist church. Jerry knew that something was wrong, but did not alarm Cheryl. But soon we hear air-raid sirens and loud explosions, even though this did not register in Cheryl’s mind that anything was amiss, we continued getting ready for our important meeting across the river. Our Uber driver picked us up and drove us across the bridge to the church, we began to see large black plumes of smoke billowing out of each side of the river. Cheryl began to realize that these were bombings happening around us. When we reached the church, we saw the fear on the face of the Uber driver and knew that this was serious. We sat down at the church meeting with Pastor Igor and his wife Suzanne, they were calm knowing that we were under the protection of the Lord Jesus Christ, and nothing was going to stop His will from being accomplished in this important meeting. Cheryl was reassured by their lack of panic. They were not going to be deterred by the events of the day. We learned that a Children’s Hospital had been bombed and several other buildings damaged. My mother-in-law Evelyn Turner reassured me that God sent us to Ukraine, and He is going to keep and protect us. Cheryl cried when she heard about the children who where injured and killed in the attack. We visited the site this morning to see it for ourselves. PLEASE CONTINUE TO PRAY FOR THE END OF THIS WAR AND PEACE IN UKRAINE.

John 14:27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

GOOD NEWS FOR OUR MISSION IN UKRAINE
After attending various churches, and meeting many congregations of people, we have found the place that the Lord has prepared for us: RESURRECTION BAPTIST CHURCH. As of this writing, Pastor Igor has invited us to join along side his church and ministry to help the people of Ukraine. We have been invited to help teach, reach the youth and the elderly, help in recovery ministry to drug/alcohol addicts, minister to refugees from other parts of Ukraine, and even to teach at an upcoming conference at a local Bible College. We are so excited to see what the Lord will have us do, as the church and Pastor really need help caring for the people that God has given them. We plan to move to a flat across this river, nearer to the church.

Please pray about supporting the mission here in Ukraine, as we are here- boots on the ground doing the work the Lord has called us to. Thank you and God bless you.
